This stunning sampler by Leila Gardunia is called the State Fair Sampler. Leila says it was inspired by a mosaic of quilt blocks on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Going to the fair is one of Leila's family’s favorite summer activities and she just had to make a quilt with some of the quilt blocks! Now the pattern is available to you too!
Here are all the details:
There are 36 blocks in 6 different sizes::
(1) 36” block
(1) 32” block
(5) 24” blocks
(3) 16” blocks
(15) 12” blocks
(11) 8” blocks
Blocks are made with both traditional and foundation paper pieced units.
Multiple Layout Options
Three different quilt layouts are also included, queen, throw, and crib. The sizes are:
- Queen: 96” x 92”
- Throw: 48” x 60”
- Crib: 32” x 36”
Yardage
You will need 4 1/2 yards of background fabric and 12-14 yards of various prints and solids to make the queen sized option. (This could be a great stash/scrap buster!)
