Binding

Perfect Binding is the first fabric designed specifically for quilt binding. Instead of cutting binding from a printed quilting cotton and hoping it lines up, each Perfect Binding design is pre-marked so the fold reveals an intentional pattern — giving your quilt's edge a clean, deliberate finish instead of a random slice of fabric.

Every design is double-sided, so a single strip gives you two looks depending on how you fold it. Strips are cut at the standard 2.5" width used for most quilt binding, and sold by the yard so you can buy exactly what your project needs.

Quilt Binding FAQs

Quilt binding is the fabric strip that wraps around the raw edges of your quilt, securing the layers and giving your project a polished finish

Our binding fabrics are cut in 2.5″ strips, the most common and versatile size for quilt binding. Simply cut on the line, fold and press once, attach to your quilt then fold again and stitch to finish.

This is straight double fold binding, not cut on the bias. It is double fold for durability.

As a general rule, one yard of our binding fabric is enough to finish most quilts up to king size. For smaller projects, you’ll need less. You can calculate by using our calculator.

Yes! Our 2.5″ strips are perfect for machine binding—fast, easy, and professional-looking. They also work beautifully for hand binding if you prefer a traditional finish. Attaching the binding to the quilt is by machine and then folding over and stitching again can be done by machine or hand.

Double-sided prints give you two looks in one strip. You can choose which side to feature. These designs are exclusive to Sewing by Sarah.

We recommend pre-washing IF you typically pre-wash your quilt fabrics. Prewash PRIOR to cutting to avoid fraying.
