SEWING MACHINE COMPATIBILITY

How to determine if you have a High Shank or Low Shank Machine?

Measure your presser foot from the screw down to the bottom of the presser foot and it will help you determine which shank size.

High Shank: 1-1/4" between top of screw to bottom of presser foot.

Low Shank: 3/4" between top of screw to bottom of presser foot

Super/Mini Low Shank: 1/2" (and under) between top of screw to bottom of presser foot. Please note the super low shank ruler foot will fit most low shank machines. It also has an open top on the shank of the foot making it easier to adjust height-wise.

How do I determine which Ruler Foot I need?

A ruler foot is intended to work with an acrylic ruler on a home sewing machine to mimic a long arm quilting process. The ruler foot attaches to the shank of your machine. Our ruler feet will work with our templates and many other templates you may buy. Scroll down to find your machine and determine which is the right foot, if you don't see your machine listed, you can use the measuring instructions below or email us at support@sewingbysarah.com to help you determine the best fit.

The ruler foot comes in three varieties, the most common are the super low shank and low shank feet.

Our Super Low Shank ruler foot will fit machines with a shank between 0.35" and 0.7".(1cm to 1.7cm)

Our Low Shank ruler foot will fit machines with a shank between 0.5" and 0.8" (1.2cm to 2.1cm)

Our High Shank ruler foot will fit machines with a shank between .65" and 1.2" (or 1.5cm to 2.9cm)

There is some overlap between the feet sizing so there is some flex. If it doesn't fit please let us know and we will swap out something that will work for you.
